Resumo

Este trabalho refere-se ao desenvolvimento e testes iniciais de um Cardiógrafo de Deslocamento (D.C.G.) para realizar medições de maneira não-invasiva da atividade mecânica do coração. O cardioquimógrafo, como também é denominado, é um dispositivo eletrônico que empregando um campo eletromagnético, registra movimentos cardíacos internos ao tórax. A bobina sensora não necessita estar em contato com o paciente pois o campo penetra dentro do corpo. Distúrbios no campo devido a cinética das paredes do coração são eletricamente convertidos em sinal analógico, apresentando um padrão de registro caracterís tico.

Abstract

This work describes the project, development, and initial tests of a Displacement Cardiograph (D.C.G.) which can perform noninvasive measurements of cardiac movement and contraction. The D.C.G. operates by means of an electromagnetic transducer which does not need to touch the chest surface and produces a magnetic field which penetrates the thorax. Contraction and movement of the heart disturbes the magnetic field and can thus be recorded by changes in the frequency of a Clapp oscillator and associated eletronic system. Tests with this system in both normal individuais and patients indicate that repetitive and stable signals, reflective of cardiac dynamics can be easily obtained. In addition, the typical pattern obtained for normal adults is considerably different for a patient with cardiac hypertrophy. Further studies are suggested in order to compare the performance and cost/effectiveness of the D.C.G. in relation to other current methods of cardiac diagnosis.
